Chairscapes began in London in 1992 following a commission for a birthday present. The chair incorporated personal details and associations, creating a Vanitas on a favourite antique chair found in Paris.

The Flamingo Chair spurred a series of commissions by word of mouth. Clients from London, Geneva, Paris and New York have since commissioned one-off personal pieces on chairs, consoles, tables and sofas of all periods. Some clients wanted their own pieces transformed. Others left it to Chairscapes to find the perfect chair or piece for the client’s idea.
